Thank goodness for all the Standifer genealogy researchers! There are a number of dedicated genealogists amongst us, one of whom is Carol Yarborough. Carol has established the definitive Standifer website http://www.carolyar.com Her site is so good that I’m not even going to bother trying to compete! Anyone who is interested in pursuing their Standifer roots would be well-advised to visit her site first, she has compiled an amazing amount of research/documentation.
Most of what I post here is Standifer information related specifically to my branch of the family. I post it here mainly to make it easy for my family to find information on our earlier family members.
Jim Standifer of TN is a descendant of Congressman James Israel Standifer, as am I. Jim was kind enough to share with me some of his research data. This was a huge help and Jim deserves my thanks.
Another descendant of the Congressman is Steve Byas of OK. Steve has researched and written a wonderful article about the political life of our ancestor. Steve was allowed me to post his article on this site. It’s rare to get a peek into our ancestors’ lives, so Steve’s article is a wonderful find.
Before you ask, no, this rooster has no Standifer family significance - he’s just beautiful!
